DCNS entrega primeira FREMM de produção

do outono chegando ao
hemisfério norte, a primeira
fragata da classe FREMM, ou
Frégate (Européenne) Multi-
Mission
, construída pela DCNS
em Lorient, na França, foi of-
cialmente entregue à Marinha
Francesa depois de uma com-
pleta campanha de testes. Ba-
tizada como A
quitaine
(D650 –
o nome de uma província da
França), a primeira FREMM é o
vaso inicial de um programa
total de 11 fragatas que inau-
guram, durante esta década,
uma modernização decisiva
da frota de superfície da Ma-
rinha Francesa .
Excelente resultado de um
ambicioso programa franco
italiano realizado sob a égide
da OCCAR (
Organisation Con
jointe de Coopération en ma-
tière d'Armement
– uma orga-
nização intergovernamental
europeia que facilita e admi-
nistra programas de arma-
mento colaborativo), um total
de 22 FREMM serão construí-
das em três versões: uma ver-
são antissubmarino, uma ver-
são antiaérea e uma variante
de propósito geral.
Todas com um grande
complemento de mísseis le-
tais: mísseis de defesa aérea
MBDA Aster 15 e Aster 30, mís-
seis antinavio Exocet MM40
Block 3. As FREMM da classe
“Aquitaine” também serão as

(FOC) FREMM, or
Frégate Mul-
ti-Mission
built by DCNS in
Lorient, France, was ofcially
handed over to the French
Navy after a thorough test
campaign. Named A
quitaine
(D650) this frst FREMM is the
lead vessel of an aspiring 11-
ship programme due to us-
her in, during this decade, a
decisive modernisation of the
French Navy surface feet.
The neat result of a power-
hungry franco-italian scheme
conducted under the aegis of
OCCAR, a total of 22 FREMMs
will be built in three versions:

All armed with a large
complement of MBDA Aster
15 and Aster 30 air-defence
missiles and Exocet MM40
Block 3 antiship missiles, the
Aquitaine-class FREMMs will
also be the frst European-
designed frigates to tote the
new MBDA MdCN (Missile de
Croisière Naval) deep land
strike missile. In spite of the
existence of three diferent
versions of the FREMM, their
design will be quite similar
as well as most of their arma-
ment is the same.
With a 6,000 ton displace-
ment for a length of 142m,
the FREMM has a top speed
of 27 knots. Several foreign
countries have expressed a
strong interest for this type
of ship, including Brazil. They
are currently built in two
shipyards, in France (DCNS)
and Italy (Fincantieri).
