Embraer Eyes Further Middle East Defense Contracts After UAE KC-390 Deal

0
By Leandro Maldonado on 04/05/2026 Defense

Following the announcement of the largest KC-390 contract in the aircraft’s history — 20 aircraft for the United Arab Emirates — Embraer declared that it is actively evaluating new defense opportunities across the broader Middle East region. The company sees significant growth potential in the market for its military platforms over the coming years.

The UAE sale positions the KC-390 as a compelling alternative to the C-130J Hercules and A400M Atlas in the medium-heavy tactical transport segment, particularly for countries seeking modern capabilities at lower acquisition and operating costs — including aerial refueling, medical evacuation and cargo airdrop.

Embraer’s defense export strategy rests on three main pillars: the KC-390 Millennium (transport and tanker), the A-29 Super Tucano (light attack and advanced trainer), and embedded ISR and surveillance solutions. The company participates regularly in major international air shows — including the Paris Air Show, LAAD Brasil and Dubai Airshow — to develop new customer relationships.

For Brazil, the KC-390’s export success carries strategic weight: it sustains the national industrial supply chain, reduces unit costs through economies of scale, and reinforces Embraer’s standing as a global reference in medium-class military aircraft.
