É
verdade, os campos de batalha
para helicópteros variam. Na
América do Sul de hoje, helicóp-
teros são vistos por toda parte. Parti-
cularmente, o helicóptero é adaptado
para voar tanto sobre grandes e remotas
áreas forestais ou desérticas quanto ao
longo de gigantescas áreas urbanas.
Dados apontam que cerca de quatro
em cada cinco helicópteros voando
na América do Sul hoje são registrados
no Brasil, confrmando que o gigante
continental é, certamente, o maior
usuário de aeronaves de asas rotativas
nas Américas, depois apenas dos EUA
e do Canadá. Sendo, de fato, também
o número 3 do mundo, ostentando a
maior frota de aeronaves de asas rotati-
vas… depois dos EUA e do Canadá, que
sempre fguraram como número 1 e 2.
Isso em suma signifca que o helicóp-
tero faz parte do Brasil!
No Brasil, todos os três componentes
das Forças Armadas (Exército, Marinha
e Força Aérea) operam aeronaves de
asas rotativas, principalmente de origem
francesa, italiana e norte-americana.
Como é também o caso das Polícias
Militares (PM) e civis, e da Polícia Federal
(PF), sem ainda mencionar os Bom-
beiros estaduais, que também usam
helicópteros em suas operações. Uma
frota total de mais de 300 máquinas.
Uma importante observação é a
de que não só as agências militares e
governamentais usam helicópteros no
Brasil: existem hoje mais de mil helicóp-
teros declarados pela ANAC no registo
nacional civil. Principalmente no estado

vary. In South America nowa-
days, rotorcraft are everywhere
to be seen. Particularly so well the heli-
copter is adapted to fying above large
remote forested or desertic areas, on the
one hand, and over gigantic urban areas,
on the other. Some four ffths of all the
rotorcraft fying in South America today
are reported to be registered in Brazil,
thus afrming that the continental giant
is certainly the largest user of rotor-
craft in the Americas after the USA and
Canada. It is in fact even the number 3
in the world today, boasting the largest
rotorcraft feet… after the USA and
Canada which always rank as number 1
and 2. That is to say in short that Brazil
and the helicopter really make one!
In Brazil, all three armies (Land Forces,
Navy and Air Force) operate rotorcraft,
mostly from French, Italian and US ori-
gin. But it is also the case for the military
police (PM), the civilian police and the
federal police (PF), not to mention the
corps of fremen which uses many heli-
copters as well. All in all that’s over 300
machines on the roster.
Reference should be made in this
introduction, that not only do the
military and governmental bureaus use
rotorcraft in Brazil: there are today more
than one thousand helicopters declared
by ANAC (Agência Nacional de Aviação
Civil) on the national civilian register.
Mostly in the state of São Paulo and its
eponymous capital where helipads can
be found anywhere, from building tops
to residential areas…

principal base é em Taubaté,
a meio caminho entre São
Paulo e Rio de Janeiro.

rotorcraft power is under the
control of the Aviação do Exé-
rcito (or simply AvEx) whose
main base is in Taubaté, mid
way between São Paulo and
Rio de Janeiro.
