MBDA rolls out its 1,000th Aster missile

econômica da UE, a família de
mísseis Aster, o mais potente
armamento de defesa aérea
desenvolvido hoje na Europa,
registrou mais um importante
marco em sua história no fnal
de novembro de 2012.
Agora, não só todas as
capacidades de defesa dos
mísseis MBDA Aster 15 e 30
baseados em mar ou em terra
já estão consolidadas, com
também, de forma bastante
signifcativa, foi realizada a
montagem e a integração f
nal do 1.000° míssil Aster em
La Selles-Saint-Denis, a princi
pal instalação de P&D e pro
dução da MBDA na França.
Este notável marco de
produção é mais uma prova
da maturidade e sucesso da
família Aster na virada do ano
de 2012. Estes dois novos
mísseis de defesa aérea de
ponta – desenvolvidos atra
vés de um programa chave
de cooperação europeu sob
a égide da OCCAR (represen
tando a França e a Itália) – já
substituíram em serviço, no
mar e em terra, muitos siste
mas anteriores de mísseis de
defesa aérea, ainda da época

November 2012 marked the
achievement of one more
key milestone in the history
of the Aster family of missiles,
today the most potent air de
fence armament developed
in Europe.
Now not only have all the
naval and ground based air
and missile defence capabi
lities of the MBDA Aster 15
and 30 been qualifed, but
quite signifcantly the inte
gration and fnal assembly of
the 1,000th Aster missile ma
terialized in La Selles-Saint-
Denis, MBDA's main R&D and
production facility in France.
This noteworthy produc
tion milestone is a further
evidence of the maturity and
success of the Aster family at
the turn of the year 2012. This
new pair of cutting-edge air
defence missiles – developed
through a key European co-
operative programme placed
under the aegis of OCCAR
(on behalf of France and Ita
ly) – has now much replaced
in service, both at sea and
on land, many previous Cold
War era air defence missile
