consists of three independent twin-wheel assemblies, providing six wheels on each
side allowing landings on unprepared runways. The Messier-Bugatti landing gear
system also enables the A400M to ‘‘kneel’’ to facilitate the loading of large vehicles
through the rear ramp. The aircraft has two nose wheels and 12 braked wheels.

A contagem regressiva para a entrega do primeiro Airbus
Military A400M de produção já começou. Em 3 de maio
de 2012, o A400M recebeu sua certifcação inicial da Euro-
pean Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), menos de três anos após
o voo inaugural do protótipo em 11 de dezembro de 2009.
Apenas alguns dias antes, o A400M MSN 006 (F-WWMZ) fez
a primeira visita à Base Aérienne 123 realizando o primeiro
pouso ofcial de um A400M em Orléans-Bricy, em 24 de Abril.
Esta é a base que se tornará, nos próximos meses, o covil da
frota francesa de A400M.
Para a Airbus Military, a certifcação da EASA assinala um
marco em direção a primeira entrega, em algum momento
por volta da virada do ano, do primeiro A400M de série. O feliz
selecionado será a Força Aérea Francesa, ansiosa para iniciar a

May 2012, the A400M received its initial type certifcate from
the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), less than three
years after the prototype’s maiden fight on 11 December
2009. Just a few days earlier, A400M MSN 006 (F-WWMZ) paid
a frst visit to Base Aérienne 123 performing the frst ofcial
landing of an A400M at Orléans-Bricy on 24 April. This base is
the one that will become over the coming months the lair for
the French Air Force A400M feet.
For Airbus Military this EASA certifcation delineates a mi-
lestone on the road to the frst delivery, somewhere around
the turn of the year, of the frst serial A400M. The happy se-
