ANIVERSÁR IO
nidade de viajar no tempo de
volta às primeiras semanas da
2ª Guerra Mundial, quando
MS 406 e H-75 vagavam
sobre o céu da França para
lutar contra a Luftwafe.
Um inglês agora com 75
anos, que continua voando e
é um frequente visitante de
La Ferté, Stephen Grey, conti-
nua sendo uma inspiração
then the last survivor of
Escadrille La Fayette, be-
fore being repainted as an
Escadrille Spa 83 “Chimère”
machine after 2000.
Productions of Aéroplanes
Morane-Saulnier (formed
in 1911) are always well
represented at La Ferté-Alais.
And this was again true
in 2012. Up to the world’s
only airworthy Morane-
Saulnier 406 C1 – actually
a Swiss-built D-3801 n°194,
and former J-143 (HB-RCF)
built in Altenrhein. Based
in Bex, Switzerland, this
aircraft belongs to the Swiss
enthusiast Éric Chardonnens
and the Association Morane
Charlie Fox. Fully restored
after some 1,000 hours of
hard work, it is painted to
mimick a French Air Force
para todos os proprietários
de warbirds na Europa. Sua
coleção de cerca de vinte
caças raros da 2ª Guerra
Mundial, todos baseadas em
Duxford, Inglaterra, é regu-
larmente exibida em toda a
Europa durante a temporada
de férias de verão para a
alegria de muitos spotters e
entusiastas da aviação. Um
MS 406 C1 of WW2. It now
sports the livery of Com-
mandant Arthur Coadou, a
former ace with the Groupe
des Cigognes and deputy
commander of GC 1/2 in
1940. Flown by Daniel Koblet
along with Stephen Grey’s
superbly rebuilt Curtiss H-75
Hawk, it gave the crowds of
sightseers at La Ferté, a fan-
tastic opportunity to travel in
time back to the frst weeks
of WW2 when MS 406s and
H-75s roamed over the sky
of France to fght against the
Luftwafe.
An Englishman now aged
75, still fying and a frequent
visitor of La Ferté, Stephen
Grey, remains an inspiration
to all warbirds owners in Eu-
rope. His collection of some
twenty rare WW2 fghters, all
