Os motores AI-222 do Yak-130 foram otimi-
zados para operarem em um moderno treinador
de combate e em aviões de combate leve. A
pedido do cliente, todos os motores AI-222
podem ser equipados com bocais de empuxo
vetorizado (UVT) ou com pós-combustão.
The AI-222 engines of the Yak-130 have been
optimized to be operated on up-to-date combat
trainer, and light combat aircraft. With low
noise and IR signature the AI-222 complies with
strict requirements for the engines of this class.
At customer’s request, all the AI-222 engines
can be equipped with vectored thrust nozzles
(UVT) or with afterburners.

Aermacchi’s M 346 is a true commercial
victory for the whole Finmeccanica
group which, having now exited the
eye of a fnancial and management
storm is outwardly looking at gaining
new international market shares even
if a confrmed deal with the UAE for 40
aircraft remains much in the blue, an
initial contract having reportedly “stal-
led over specifcations”. Whatever and
quite obviously, in view of the lack of
any suitable modern Western conten-
ders of such high calibre, the M 346
could well become a good selection for
NATO one day. Wait and see…
A curious split of nationality
Born Yak-130 after a maiden fight in
1996, and later transformed into the
M 346 under an agreement with Alenia
(who took over the prestigious Italian
aviation frm Macchi in 1990), this new
generation jet trainer has gone through
